DIRECTOR OF SAFETY
Richard "Rick" Sward,
BSCE, CSHO(4)
Rick Sward brings a unique set of talents and experience to our company. It all started with eleven years of actual hands-on engineering and management experience with Commercial General Contractors. During that time, Rick Specialized in construction of new office buildings, educational, correctional and light industrial facilities; starting as a laborer and working his way up to Project Manager. Other positions that he held during his tenure with General Contractors were: Field Engineer, Surveyor, Estimator, Office Engineer and Project Engineer.
Since 1991, Rick developed his civil construction expertise to include street, road, highway, bridge and utilities construction while serving as Loss Control Director for a worldwide insurance broker. During his tenure, he developed, implemented and monitored safety and loss control programs for heavy highway construction and concrete products associations.
Rick's OCIP/CCIP experience includes management of infrastructure/public improvement projects, water treatment facilities, manufacturing, transportation, sporting venues and mixed-use commercial projects.
Rick currently directs our Safety and Loss Control program. Having had firsthand experience in the business, Rick brings a high level of comfort and credibility to his position.
Rick's formal education complements his occupation. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University- Commerce. He majored in Construction Engineering and minored in Business Administration. He is also an active member and founding Chairman of the American Society of Safety Engineers (A.S.S.E) Construction Division, Georgia Chapter. Rick is a Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO) by the OSHA National Training Institute for Safety and Health Standards in the Construction Industry, General Industry, and the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical Industry. Rick is also certified by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) for surface, non-metal operations.
